VARIETY was the spice of life at a town food festival last weekend.
The seventh Newtown Food Festival took place across Saturday and Sunday with exhibitors including Parva Spices, Merlin Cheeses, Woodlands Ice Cream, Kerry Vale Vineyard and Radnor Preserves.
There was also entertainment with food demonstrations in the festival kitchen, a music stage and activities for children and adults.
The Mayor of Newtown, Cllr David Selby, hailed there event as a huge success and said it left the town smiling.
He said: "The Newtown Food Festival over the weekend was a great success.
"The number of visitors was high helped by the warm September sunshine, and it was wonderful to see the town smiling.
"More than one food producer told me that the Newtown Festival has a special atmosphere helped by the fact that it is on parkland in the town centre, and is designed to be a mix of community, food producers, music and children's activities."
He added: "The festival is having a successful reputation, and producers, musicians and of course public want to come back.
"On behalf of the town I want to say a big thank you to the volunteer committee aided by town c staff who work all year round to put the festival together. Festival 2019 will be remembered as a wonderful weekend."
