PEOPLE gathered at a town's memorial to mark the anniversary of the start of World War Two.
Councillors and residents from Dalton joined together to mark 80 years since the war began with a ceremony at the town’s war memorial.
They were joined by a member of Dalton Town Band who performed a special rendition of the traditional Last Post to mark the occasion.
Members of Dalton Town Council worked with Dalton Community Church and St Mary’s Church to stage the event.
It was eight decades since Nazi Germany’s attack on Poland in September 1939 kicked off World War Two.
Barrow Archives staff will be at Dalton Community Centre on Saturday from 11am to 3pm, where residents will have the chance to learn about ancestors who fought in the war.
