Multiple Coastguard teams were called out last night to reports of a person shouting for help.

Furness Coastguard and Millom Coastguard attended an incident at arund 10,30 last night where it was reported a person was shouting for help in the vicinity of Anchor Line Basin, Barrow Port.

Coastguard worked alongside Cumbria Police and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service to conduct an extensive search of the dock and surrounding areas.

Pyro illuminating flares fired by the Coastguard search teams were used to illuminate the area and the Fire Brigade used thermal imaging cameras to scan the water and surrounding area.

A request was made to BAE Systems, and was granted, for an inflatable boat.

Ulverston Inshore Rescue were also tasked and travelled to the scene with a boat and more thermal imaging equipment.

After a thorough search the emergency services were stood down with nothing found.

If in any danger around the Coast, Dial #999 and ask for the Coastguard. It is always best to call too early, than too late.
