OFFICERS investigating the death of a 43-year-old man in the River Kent are appealing for information from the public.
A major multi-agency rescue operation was mounted earlier this month to find the man who had been swept away after ending up in the raging waters of the river at Sedgwick.
Police said the man, who was from Ambleside, had entered the swollen waters with a 30-year-old woman who was “located out of the water” and was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary with minor injuries.
Detectives are asking for witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage taken in the area of Nannypie Lane between 9pm on Saturday August 10 and 7am on Sunday August 11.
Officers were called at around 6.38am on August 11 to the report of a concern for safety.
At approximately 3pm on August 13, the body of a man was found in the area of Levens Lane. The death remains unexplained at this time with inquiries ongoing.
Detective Inspector Charlotte Nutter said: “We are also appealing to anyone that might have seen any vehicles in the layby opposite to the pig farm on Nannypie Lane.
“I am also appealing for anyone who might have footage of the river on August 10 and 11 to contact police on 101, email 101@cumbria.police.uk quoting log number 47 of August 11.”
