A BARROW businessman and his wife are taking part in a gruelling fundraiser in aid of a schoolboy diagnosed with a muscular disease.
Neill Berry, from Stollers, is gearing up for the Longest Steepest Highest Quadrathlon, featuring a one-mile swim and 11-mile kayak on Windermere, a 25-mile bike ride including Wrynose and Hardknott passes, and a walk or run over Scafell Pike.
It will take place on August 30/31.
It is all in aid of schoolboy Will Taylor, who was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 2014, a genetic condition which means he struggles with mobility as his muscles are getting weaker.
Mr Berry, who is good friends with Will’s dad Sam, said: “It’s all about raising money in the hope that medical science may find some cure to help children like Will live a longer and more active life.”
Will was a superhero for the day when he took part in the Superhero Triathlon near Windsor.
The ten-year-old and his dad, Sam, dressed as secret agent Danger Mouse and his faithful sidekick, Penfold.
He and his dad took on the sprint event at the Olympic Rowing Lake, comprising a 150-metre open water swim, 3km bike ride and 1km push/run.
