A TOWN is hoping to get plans for a new play area over the line.

Millom Rugby Club has submitted an application to create a new children's play area

Pictures submitted as part of the application reveal the new play area would include a timber climbing wall, a slide, multiple crawling tunnels, a toddler run as well as a variety of other activities.

The application reveals the club hopes to instal the children’s play area within its grounds.

If the planning application is successful, it is hoped the play area would be completed by early 2020.

Millom Mayor Angela Dixon has welcomed the news of the new play area.

She said she believed the new play area would be great for the local community.

She said: “Anything that improves the area is a great thing.

“Millom Rugby Club is a strong club.

“The play area will be a great asset to the club, especially when parents go down to watch the games.

“Younger children can enjoy the new play area whilst parents watch the older children play rugby.

“It will also be a great thing for people living in that area of town as they don’t have any other play area down there.”

Residents can now view or comment on the plans by visiting the Copeland Borough Council offices at St George’s Road, Millom.

Alternatively, they can go to Market Hall, in Whitehaven, quoting reference 4/19/2281/0F1.
