A COUPLE from Dalton happily celebrated their love after a romantic proposal looking out to sea.

Ellen Davies, 27, a BAE project engineer and Jasper Carey, 31, a BAE pipe fabricator said ‘I do’ amongst their closest family and friends.

The couple first met on a night out in Barrow in October 2012.

They were out alongside a group of mutual friends, but had never met each other before.

The pair really hit it off and got chatting and after that they kept bumping into each other on night outs.

Ellen described Jasper as a ‘a really nice person, who is quite quiet and reserved’.

This, she said, was perfect to match her ‘outgoing’ and ‘chatty’ personality.

It was Jasper though who first asked out Ellen and they enjoyed their first official date at Francescas Italian Restaurant on Duke Street, Barrow.

Ellen said: “We just clicked straight away and it was really easy just to talk to each other.

“We are both so different but that is why we work so well.”

After this they then started to go away with each other regularly travelling to far-flung places such as Egypt, Bali, and Greece.

Ellen said the couple enjoy travelling and getting around, as well as long walks together with their black Cocker Spaniel Nancy.

On one of their many journeys Jasper proposed to Ellen in July 2017. It was while Greek island hopping that he popped the question.

Jasper arranged to hire a private balcony at a romantic restaurant in Santorini.

They were able to enjoy a perfect scene looking over the sea.

Ellen said it was ‘absolutely beautiful’.

After the trip the couple then got the keys to their first house together in Dalton.

The couple married on March 22 2019 at The Olde Mill in Bardsea.

They had both their ceremony and their reception at The Olde Mill.

Ellen said the day went ‘smoothly’ and was 'perfect'.

Seventy of their closest family and friends joined in the celebrations during the day with another 50 joining in the evening.

Guests were also treated to music by The Next Step band who played popular covers in their own unique folk style.

After the day the couple enjoyed a romantic trip to Rhodes and are now looking forward to the birth of their first child, who is expected soon.
