AN innovative team of filmmakers are heading to south Cumbria this month to hold screenings of never-before-seen documentaries.

On Thursday August 29, Cinecaravan will arrive at The Bear on the Square, Millom, for a screening of short documentaries by filmmakers Atsushi Kuwayama, Cecília Bandeira, Jamie Allan, Marianna Vas, and Ross McClean.

The project will see the Cinecaravan members collaborate with Millom artist Irene Rogan.

Member Jamie Allan said: "The project comes from wanting to provide incredible, beautiful, but most importantly, independent films to hard-to-reach areas of the world.

"The team and I studied filmmaking in various European countries such as Portugal, Belgium, and Hungary.

"One of the reasons we're heading to Millom in particularly was down to Carlisle artist Laura Harrison, who put us in touch Irene, who is very passionate.

"These documentaries will showcase the work of people from various countries including Czech Republic, Hungary and more."

As well as the documentary screenings, the mobile movie bunch are holding filmmaking workshops between Friday August 30 to Sunday September 1.

With the help of the Cinecaravan team, the workshops will see participants make their own documentary film in three days.

"We only have room for 20 people for the workshops, so we would need applications as soon as possible," said Mr Allan.

Going forward, the team will be travelling to Portugal, Hungary and Brazil, holding screenings and workshops in each country."

Applications for this workshop are still open.
