RESIDENTS are waging war on bad parking.
Homeowners living in Dane Avenue near to Furness General Avenue have taken to putting down cones in the street to prevent non-residents from taking advantage of the permit-free parking.
However their drastic steps have been criticised by some motorists who argue that their road tax allows them to park anywhere where there are no restrictions.
One driver said: "Just a few pictures of Dane Avenue in Barrow where residents don’t like anybody parking outside their property as they assume they own the road."
Meanwhile the streets surrounding Church Walk Primary School in Ulverston continue to act as a breeding ground for inconsiderate motorists.
Vehicles are regularly parked too close to the junctions as residents, shoppers and parents vie for the closest spots available.
One resident said: "Why can’t they afford to put their cars in a car park?
"Instead they just dump it across a junction instead - Church Walk Primary School parents and children use this pavement to walk to school which is often blocked.
"These morons don’t care."
Another said: "It's apparently lovely weather for don't-give-a-damn drivers who dump their cars without a care for pedestrians or other road users, parking wardens or the police.
"But then if there's no road markings, apart from the actual junction, perhaps they think that the highway code does not apply to them.
"Is this moronic or simply selfish?"
