Outbreaks of heavy rain and strong winds are set to sweep across South Cumbria this weekend.

A flood warning has been issued for numerous areas of South Cumbria as persistent rain and coastal gales are set to batter the county.

A warning has been issued for Windermere, Rusland, Newby Bridge, High Newton and Grange.

Residents are advised to prepare a bag that includes medicines and insurance documents and check flood warnings.

Showers will be persistent until late tonight with a maximum temperature of 19 °C.

The rain will clear southeastwards this evening, with winds easing.

Tonight will be dry for most but a few showers will be possible, these becoming more widespread by dawn.

Saturday will be sunny and windy, with scattered showers possible.

The showers will ease through the day, and it will feel pleasant out of the wind. The maximum temperature will be 21 °C.
