A BARROW DJ is soon to play Blackpool’s PierJam festival at the iconic North Pier.

Dedicated House fans will be eagerly awaiting the arrival on Barrow’s Cameron Lees on September 28 as the 19-year-old takes to the biggest stage of his career.

The young Barrovian has been DJing from an early age, learning his craft from his father Phil.

Cameron said: “My dad has been DJing since I was born and I have always loved music.”

It was back in 2013 that he first took to the stage aged only 12.

He first started doing private functions before hitting Barrow’s nightclubs aged 17.

He plays regularly at Barrow’s Bar 5 based in Dalkeith Street every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

He also plays monthly at Rioja in Ulverston as well as other local events such as Askambury and charity functions.

Cameron said of his style: “I just like to play to the crowd, but I like playing a house/ dance style.

“I’ve always liked my music and I particularly like the mixing aspects of DJing.

“I really like it when the crowd are getting into it and enjoying themselves - it’s a great feeling.”

He added that despite a few nerves he WAS really excited of playing what is to be his biggest gig.

He said: “I am nervous but very excited.

“I used to sell tickets for the festival and it is great to have this opportunity.

“After I just want to keep improving as well as creating my own compositions.”

Cameron highlighted Calvin Harris as one of his favourite DJs.
