MORE than one hundred Ulverston Victoria High School students were jumping for joy after receiving their A-Level results, with many achieving a superb set of top grades.

Students celebrated yet another year of exceptional results yesterday morning after months of anticipation.

Around 140 students gathered at the school where tutors were on hand to celebrate and advise on next steps.

Among those celebrating was Bella Kanjoo-Parsons, who is heading to Durham university after receiving an AAA*.

She said: “I was really surprised with the results.

“I worked really hard and it’s paid off. I feel really overwhelmed at the moment.

“It’s such a sense of relief.”

Oliver Guest was also accepted into his first choice university after securing four A*s in his exams.

“I feel over the moon,” he said.

“I didn’t sleep at all last night, I was so nervous.

“I did a lot better than I thought, I didn’t really know what to expect.”

Oliver is heading to Newcastle University to study Medicine.

Head of Sixth Form Rob Rastelli congratulated the students for their ‘sheer hard work’.

He said: “Yet again, we have a Year 13 cohort whose overall performance reflects the commitment, dedication and sheer hard work that they have put into their time at UVHS, both inside and outside the classroom – the excellent results achieved by them are fully deserved.

Headteacher of UVHS, Matthew Hardwick, added: “We are delighted with the outcomes that this year’s UVHS Year 13 students have achieved and are proud of each and every one of them.

“The results of our students reflect not only their own hard work and commitment, but also the amazing dedication and quality of our teaching and support staff alongside the superb levels of encouragement and focus fostered by parents and families.”
