A RECYCLING centre in Barrow is to close for a set period every day following a review.
Barrow Household Recycling Centre (HWRC) is to close between 11am and 12pm each day during container servicing following a health and safety review.
A spokesman from Cumbria County Council said: "This decision was not taken lightly and has unfortunately resulted in some additional queuing at an already busy site.
"Having reviewed all the options available to reduce this impact, and for a trial period, Cumbria County Council, alongside partners Renewi (the waste contractor managing the sites) are looking to minimise queuing by closing the HWRC on a daily basis for a set period of one hour.
"This is to allow residents to have a clearer understanding of when the site will be temporarily closed, and allow the majority of container servicing to take place safely within this period.
"It should be noted that other container exchanges will occur outside of this closure period but these will be minimal and only be for short periods of time.
"We would like to thank residents and users for their patience at this time, and hope that this trial period will help facilitate less queuing and a better service for the local community.
