LEADING the way with Barrow’s ‘best’ array of clothing for men is Lynne’s Menswear, the latest recipient of Trader of the Week.

The store, based in Barrow Market Hall, is never fashionably late by providing the town’s male population with a great selection of clothing, from shirts, hats, t-shirts, trousers, and belts - all in a wide variety of sizes.

The friendly male-based market stall is the brainchild of Lynne McKenna, 58, of Wallace Street, who has been manning the shop since 2013.

She said: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me.

“I hope they keep returning for many years to come.

“It feels great to win and to know my customers have recognised me is nice.”

For Ms McKenna, she knows full well the ins and outs of trading with the town’s busy market.

“I’ve worked on a couple of stalls over a 40-year period.

“I’m confident I provide the best menswear in Barrow.

"Some of my regular customers come from the Windermere area."

One nomination for Lynne’s Menswear came from Sarah Marquis, of Barrow, who nominated the store for the award, highlighting the range of clothing which Mrs Marquis buys for her husband.

“It’s great to see those classic stalls in a market hall, and Lynne’s Menswear is definitely one of them,” said Mrs Marquis.

“I buy my husband’s trousers from there, including lounge pants, which are well worth it.

“The lady on the stall is always really nice to speak to and is a great representative of the vibrant market.”

Ms McKenna stated a key selling point for her is to provide all seasonal clothing year round.

“A lot of shops concentrate on providing seasonal clothing, but I like to display long warm coats in the summertime and shorts in the winter because you never know what piece of clothing that person will need at that time.

“Variety is everything.

“I’ve seen a sharp rise is custom from elderly people for the trousers I provide, which are stretchy and comfortable.”

Ms McKenna stated she could not be happier in her role.

“I love working on the stall, and on occasion you do meet the odd celebrity performing at The Forum.

“I’ve even met Eastenders’ Cheryl Fergison.”
