MILLOM School were visited by technology company 3DW this month as part of a project titled Working in STEM: Design a Virtual Wind Farm.
The project was based upon a resource package developed and utilised by 3DW under a previous workshop delivery series.
The Wind Farm project gave pupils an insight into the engaging and balanced complexities of wind farm designs, much like the farm seen from Walney Channel.
A school representative said: "In small teams the pupils experienced what it was like to work on a wind farm development.
"The teams created their own 'company' with each member having a specific role.
"They had to plan and design a wind farm layout considering real-life constraints and obstacles."
Also considered was a cable route design, to be connected to the National Grid.
