CUMBRIA Community Foundation have reminded the public the importance - and existence - of local community centres.
There are more than 300 village halls and community buildings in Cumbria and many have been supported by the Foundation.
As part of Community Centre Week, the Foundation recognise the value of volunteers and staff running these centres, including Kirksanton Village Hall, near Millom, received £5,000 last year to refurbish and improve facilities.
The building was officially re-opened in May by Paul Rose, BBC television presenter and explorer.
Trustee, Anne Harrison, said: "The new facilities are attracting more people to come along to events."
