A WOMAN was rescued from the city walls in York early this morning (July 23).
North Yorkshire Police said it was called at about 2.40am to reports that a woman was on a bridge over an archway on Station Rise.
A fire crew also attended and used a triple extension ladder to help police reach the woman.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police added: "At around 3.15am police officers brought the woman to safety and into the care of mental health services."
