A NEW programme of activities is being launched across Walney's coastline in the hope of getting people out on the beach this summer to boost their health and wellbeing.

The Active Coast Programme launches Monday and will see a range of activities happening up and down Cumbria's coasts, from paddleboard yoga, Nordic walking, and cycle rides to arts and crafts activities and environmental dune explorations.

Cumbrian beaches covered under the programme are Walney Biggar Bank, Walney Sandy Gap, Walney West Shore, Haverigg, and Silecroft.

This year’s programme is designed to appeal to everyone, no matter their age, ability and interests.

The programme is divided into five categories: Art & Culture; Community; Environment; Sport and Walk & Relaxation.
