THE daughter of a couple who met in Warrington more than 60 years ago has finally returned to her birth town after decades of living in America.

Debbie-Joy Agee, 60, was born at Warrington Hospital in 1959, one year after her parents met while her dad was based at Burtonwood Airbase.

The couple, Joy and Bill, had married before she was born and moved to Arpley Street in the town centre before leaving the country for America in 1960.

Debbie-Joy has longed to return to the place where her parents met, and her wish was granted by her cousin, Karen Tilbury, who planned a special trip for her.

Karen explained: "The day was just perfect and we visited areas of interest, such as the casino where Debbie-Joy's mum and dad first met, the first time she had returned to Arpley Street since leaving just before the age of one and Warrington Hospital where she was born.

"We also visited RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre, where I had pre-arranged a wedding photo of her mum and dad to be framed and hung on the wall at the chapel.

"Meeting the mayor for tea and a guided tour around the town hall was a complete surprise for both Debbie-Joy and her husband, Montie, and certainly completed their day, leaving them with exceptional memories of Warrington and, of course, the typical weather- a day full of rain.

"I would personally like to thank the mayor and the staff at the Democratic Services for making this reunion very memorable."

With the help of Warrington Hospital, Karen has managed to trace Debbie-Joy's birth records, meaning she will now be able to obtain them.

Debbie-Joy said: "My experience in Warrington was one I shall never forget.

"After 60 years away, it all came together seeing the places where my parents met, the hospital where I was born and eventually the place were we lived before coming to the United States.

"The visit with the mayor and her staff, and a trip to the Burtonwood Museum made it all the more special.

"I never had the feeling I was a visitor in Warrington, or anywhere during our two-week journey through the UK, but in fact felt it was truly my other home."
