A COUPLE celebrated their wedding in style surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

David Glew, 33, butcher and Laura Burnett, 41, care worker said “I do” in a luxury ceremony..

The Millom couple knew of each other on and off for around 10 years, but it was at a Halloween fancy dress party at The Plough Inn pub that they properly started talking - Laura was dressed as a witch.

David would describe himself as the ‘quiet’ one and Laura as the more ‘outgoing’ one.

He also said: “Laura wears her heart on her sleeve - she is a very strong woman - we are both quite level-headed.”

David also mentioned how they enjoy walking on Haverigg and Silecroft beaches together with their dogs Tilly and Seth and simply being in each other’s company.

The couple moved in together in 2016.

After a long conservation then they decided that they wanted to have a child and in October 2017 Laura fell pregnant. Laura has children from a previous relationship.

The couple had a beautiful baby boy called Curtis on July 14 2018.

David chose to propose to Laura on January 16 2018 on Laura’s fortieth birthday.

Laura’s father had been working a night shift and had messaged Laura at 5.15am wishing her happy birthday, which woke the couple up.

David was waiting for the right moment and had the ring under his pillow.

He proposed there and then.

It came as a complete surprise to Laura although David had jokingly proposed with a haribo ring a few months before.

The couple then enjoyed the rest of the day celebrating Laura’s birthday.

The couple then got married on May 18 2019 amongst their closest family and friends.

Their ceremony was held at Holy Trinity Church in Millom and their reception at Millom Cricket Club.

David said that the day ‘couldn’t have gone better’ and despite a cloudy morning it turned out to be a ‘really nice, sunny day.’

Laura and her family were celebrating even before the wedding. David said they hadn’t stopped since the night before and on the morning there was music playing at Laura’s family house.

David was not too nervous on the day and as soon as the music started playing and he saw Laura walking down the aisle all his nerves went away.

Guests were treated to a buffet catered by the Trackside Tea Rooms and the couple also had two Rolls-Royces, courtesy of Geoff Hall.

After their special day the couple then enjoyed a one-week honeymoon to Menorca.
