BACK in July 2003 a Barrow teenager was celebrating attending school for more than 2,300 days without a break for sickness or any other reason.

The Mail, on July 12, noted Dawn Teale, 16, of Abbots Vale, Barrow, leaves Parkview secondary school this week at the end of 12 years of education with a 100 per cent attendance record.

Mum Rhona said: "I think the key has been perseverance. Sometimes when she has not been feeling too good she has struggled in because she has got to keep it up."

Head of year Gill Dowling said: "No one else in Dawn's year has achieved such a feat.

"It's an outstanding achievement and I think it will look good when she applies for jobs."
