THE Government's new Domestic Abuse Bill has been hailed by the Barrow and Furness MP.

The bill was presented before the House of commons yesterday.

If passed, the bill will provide measures that would safeguard and protect those survivors of domestic abuse who are too often left trapped in an abusive relationship or simply to fend for themselves.

Mr Woocock said: "This is great news that this landmark piece of legislation now has the opportunity to bring some justice to those who have been forced to endure domestic abuse.

“It is reassuring to hear that the minister has worked in close consultation with survivors and experts to draft the bill to ensure this will be an effective law, but that’s only half the journey.

“Over the coming weeks I will be studying the bill closely to see ways that it could be strengthened and improved."
