IN 2018 FESP was fortunate to secure funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to support the new STEM Project called Sharing Engineering History.

The original aim of the project was to share the rich engineering history of the Furness area and the companies that are part of this with local school children through industry visits to schools and practical STEM activities.

Many students stated how interested they were about the electrifying history of Barrow and the Furness area during Siemens visit to St Paul's.

Oliver said: "It was very interesting to learn how electricity has developed over the years."

Unanimously, the children enjoyed the experience of learning about energy resulting from the existence of charged particles.

Zari said: "It was fun learning about the history of electricity."

Along with St Paul's Junior School many other education centres have benefited from the Sharing Engineering Project.

These other schools included Sacred Heart RC Primary; North Walney Primary; Greengate Junior; St. James' C of E Junior; Newbarns Primary; George Romney Junior; and Barrow Island Community Primary.
