BARROW Foodbank received a major boost after it was granted £20,000 to pay for a new role.
When the Barrow Foodbank's 18-month funding for an advisor ceased, Asda stepped in the provide a £20,000 grant to fund a CAB 'one stop shop' advisor who is on hand four hours a day, five days a week over the next two years.
Asda have committed this amount to aid their 'Fight Hunger Create Change' campaign with funding for Trussell Trust and Fareshare, who predominantly run the nation's Foodbanks, over the next three years.
With this new role clients at the foodbank can receive advice on various topics including Universal Credit, which began its initial roll out in Barrow at the end of 2018.
ASDA general store manager Dex Rose and Community Champion, Gill Gerrish, visited Barrow Foodbank to see how the service has been going since it began two months ago.
