SOUTH Lakes MP Tim Farron has accused the Government of throwing Cumbrian farmers to the wolves after Jeremy Hunt said it would take a £6bn rescue package to cope with the effect of a no deal Brexit.
The Conservative leadership candidate announced the pledge last week to “mitigate the impact of a no-deal Brexit” and “smooth out short-term difficulties”.
Mr Farron said: “Cumbrian farmers deserve better than to be plunged into a situation where they essentially need charity from the Government in order to survive."
