CHILDREN from an Askam school have been getting stuck in to their annual sports day 2019.

Ireleth St Peter's School held their 2019 sports day last week.

Cheers and clapping could be heard across the school field as children of all ages competed in a variety of events throughout the day.

The children were divided out in to different colours and competed against each other.

Different events included a host of traditional athletics events such as hurdles and different distance races, as well as a few more fun competitions such as the egg and spoon race, bouncy hopper races and the three legged race.

Parents and siblings were invited to come and get involved.

They could be seen smiling and cheering everyone on from the pitch side.

Some parents even took part in their own events .

A spokeswoman for Ireleth St Peter's praised all the children and parents for taking part and giving it there all throughout the day.

She said said: "What a fabulous Sports Day.

"Well done to all the boys and girls for such brilliant team spirit and effort.

"A special well done to Miss Morrison for leading the afternoon!

"A great time was had by all."
