A VILLAGE came alive for a special festival of music.
Askam residents turned in force for a day of acts at a sold-out Askambury.
Held at Askam United FC, it featured a wide variety of musical styles, with Strike One and the Underdogs heading up the bill.
Councillor Ben Shirley said: "I think that the event is brilliant. My wife and I joined a lot of other people who volunteered on the day to help make it a huge success.
"It was a great atmosphere, the music was excellent, everyone behaved, the weather was fantastic and the backdrop of the Duddon Estuary and the Lakeland hills made for a great day.
"The organisers, Matty Gribbin and Neil park, and their committee deserve huge credit. It’s great for our village to have such a fantastic community event as this that caters for the whole family."
