A TEAM of 22 members from Keswick Mountain Rescue rescued two 30-year-olds after becoming stuck on Great End on Sunday.
The pair did not have adequate climbing equipment after scrambling up the left branch of Central Gully.
A spokesperson from the team said: "The Central Gully is a winter grade-three ice climb and in summer a place any mountain goat would avoid."
The team approached from Seathwaite up Grains Ghyll then climbed up the east side of Great End.
Great care was required due to the risk of sending rocks down to the couple.
One team member was lowered into the gully with additional harnesses and helmets for the pair who were then lowered to the scree at the foot of the gully where it was safe to un-rope and walk off.
The rescue took nearly five hours.
