GEORGIA Stanway's former school sent a good luck message to her ahead of England's World Cup semi-final against the USA tonight.

Stanway attended Dowdales School in Dalton and 'stood out from the crowd' the first time she went to a training session.

A school spokesman said: "We have a thriving girls football club here at Dowdales and teams across all year groups. During Georgia’s time here, the teams won the county cup two years in a row and got through to the regional stages of the FA girls 5-a-side cup in Newcastle.

"Georgia’s legacy lives on here at the school with high numbers of girls turning out to the football practices and representing the school up and down the north of the country in a number of competitions.

"Everyone in school is cheering her on and have thoroughly enjoyed following her journey so far. We wish her and the Lionesses the best of luck."
