THE humongous accommodation unit from the first-of-class Dreadnought submarine has been moved across BAE Systems Submarines site, in Barrow. It is the first unit of Dreadnought’s forward end to be moved into the maritime business’ new Central Yard Facility, where teams are now working on units from all three areas of the boat – forward, mid and aft. The business’ submarines site has been undergoing a major £300m redevelopment in readiness to accommodate the build of Dreadnought. BAE are also working alongside partners Rolls-Royce for the project.
