A GENEROUS youngster has raised more than £250 to help a classmate by hosting a cake sale.
Nine-year-old Ollie Smith tasked his mum, grandma, and great grandma with baking a bumper supply of fresh cakes and biscuits in a bid to raise the cash.
Ollie is a pupil at Barrow Island Primary School where a fundraising campaign is under way to raise the £4,000 to modify the school’s minibus so wheelchair-user Bobby Shaw can go on trips.
Ollie’s mum Sarah Forristal said: “Ollie sat on our front selling cakes for a solid two hours. He did brilliant. I didn’t know anything about Bobby and the mini bus until Ollie said ‘Mam can I do a bake sale outside the house for Bobby’.”
