Some Ormsgill children got the chance to write about the day.

Bailey Miles, Year 6, wrote: “I would give the Book Festival a nine out of 10 because I got to see people others wouldn’t have had the chance to see.

“They were very good and very funny.

“I liked learning about the authors’ lives and how they were inspired to start writing their stories.

Dan Smith’s stories are the best in my opinion but Ross Montgomery’s “Christmas Dinner of Souls” sounds fantastic too.

“I thought Dan Smith’s session was really interesting, Petr Horáĉek was very talented but Ross Montgomery was my favourite.

Thyan Jones, Year 6, wrote: “I enjoyed the Book Festival because there were authors I enjoyed listening to and their books sound interesting.

“I also got to see an illustrator so we got to learn about both sides of writing stories.

“I liked the Christmas horror stories more than the rest.

“They gave me a festive feeling with a bit of a dreadful feeling.

“I can’t wait to get reading this book; Ross Montgomery signed it for me too!

My favourite author was Ross, he was funny and used some old story ideas with some new ideas because “Christmas Dinner of Souls” is one big story with six mini scary stories inside.”

Amy-Lee Harris, Year 6, wrote: "I really, really, REALLY enjoyed the Book Festival yesterday. "Dan Worsley was AWESOME and so funny.

"I loved learning about illustrations and watching Petr Horáĉek draw animals, it was fabulous.

"My favourite author was, of course, Dan Worsley because he was a really funny storyteller, I liked his rainbow waistcoat."
