ONE of Ormsgill’s shining lights has won the Best Sandwich Shop award after a landslide decision from the public.

Satty’s Faction, located in the post office, on Middlefield, beat off stiff competition to be crowned 'king of the cobs', which left co-owner Gail Satterthwaite in tears of joy.

It was only seven years ago that the award-winning snack-eria was a pop-up shop, where co-owner John Satterthwaite would make paninis.

Mr Satterthwaite said: “We started the business back in 2012.

“We’ve come along way since then so to win the public's recognition is everything to us.

“We get all of our stock locally, which I think brings a lot of custom from the surrounding area.

"We get builders coming up from Ulverston almost everyday just because they like our sandwiches."

Being situated on Ormsgill's Middlefield row, just off Barrow's A590, means the shop is in a tactical position for visitors to the area.

"It's about developing relationships with our customers and bringing them back for more, which is why our position next to the A590."

Satty's Faction has many strings in its bow including always receiving a five-star (very good) rating by the Food Standards Agency since its inception.

"I think another unique selling point of ours is if a local resident is using the post office, they can get something to eat too - essentially killing two birds with one stone," added Mr Satterthwaite.

The next step for the married owners is to unveil the Satty's Faction's new outside sign soon.
