A GROUP of children took to the penalty spot yesterday to raise the profile of the women's game.
Juniors from Old Vicarage Day Nursey, on Hartington Street, had their best shooting boots on to show support for the women's national football team, who are taking part in the Women's FIFA World Cup in France.
Sam Bonell, key worker at the school, said: "As well as shooting practise, the children have been getting involved designing their own kits and badges.
"We've also been making up some special dancing and chants to show our full support to the Lionesses in France.
"It's also given us a chance to show the children a few useful warm-up and stretching techniques.
"They've enjoyed this football-themed event and there's been a real togetherness."
