LAUGHTER returns to The Comedy Mill at Ulverston tonight for a special Stand-up For Local Charities comedy cracker with an all LGBTQ line up to celebrate Pride month. All proceeds from the event will be going to Friends and Supporters of the Furness LGBT Community.

Staged by Sam Hughes' Laughing Penguins Events, first on is Canadian treasure, Brandon Craig. Starting out in Calgary, he has was a finalist in the Yuk Yuk’s Chase Your Butterfly comedy competition and went on to perform across Canada.

Also, in the spotlight is Howard Anstock, regarded as one of the most exciting new LGBT comedians around.

Top of the bill is American stand up and improviser now based in Manchester, Kate McCabe. As an improviser, she performs with both Comedy Sportz Manchester and Murder Inc. She contributes regularly to www.standardissuemagazine.com and can often be heard on the airwaves with Fab Radio’s The Gay Agenda.

Meanwhile, MC is Manchester-based Red Redmond, one of the circuit’s most popular comperes.

Sam says that to celebrate Pride they've put together an "awesome" line-up of some of the best LGBTQ comedians on the circuit: "It’ll be a night filled with plenty of laughter. Kate is an amazing comedian and is sure to finish the night on a high."

Tickets available from The Mill or TicketSource.

The laughs continue next Thursday (June 20), at Barrow's Duke of Edinburgh on Abbey Road, in another Laughing Penguins' night of stand-up comedy.

The line up includes Tom Taylor, who most recently picked up the Audience Favourite Award at the Musical Comedy Awards 2017 and reached the final of English Comedian of the Year 2018.

Headlining will be Tony Burgess, who many might recognise from his role in the cult BBC3 comedy Ideal where he played DJ Troy; comedy fans might have clocked Tony from his self-penned BBC1 sitcom The Visit: "Tony actually performed at our very first ever pro night and is definitely a crowd favourite," adds Sam. "And we’ve also got Comedy Mike as MC, a firm favourite with the crowd."

Tickets are available from the Duke of Edinburgh or online from TicketSource.
