CUMBRIA Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting four firefighter apprentices to be based countywide.

The service is seeking applicants who are over 18 years old and want to work within their community to improve safety awareness, help protect the public and promote fire safety.

Applications opened on Monday and will close on Sunday 7th July.

Barrow station manager, Roger Exley said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service as an apprentice and receive full training and support to become a professional firefighter.

"We are fully committed to our apprenticeship programme and offer a career path that can often lead to a permanent full-time firefighter role."

Applicants will undergo a rigorous selection process.
