FURNESS Academy, on Park Drive, is hosting a dress rehearsal of a production of The Lion King on Monday 17th June.
The the theatrical performance will be from children at Yarlside Academy, on Red Oak Ave in Roose.
The play will be based on the popular 1994 American animated musical film.
To coincide with The Lion King dress rehearsal, a live action version of the production will be released this summer.
The story takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa and was influenced by William Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
In the Pride Lands of Africa, a pride of lions rule over the animal kingdom from Pride Rock. King Mufasa’s and Queen Sarabi’s newborn son, Simba, is presented to the gathering animals by Rafiki the baboon, the kingdom’s shaman and advisor.
Mufasa shows Simba the Pride Lands and explains to him the responsibilities of kingship and the “circle of life”, which connects all living things.
The story then takes on the path of Simba’s journey where the character has to deal with the death of his father, which he believes was his fault.
However, eventually he learns his father’s death was the result of an evil plan by his uncle, Scar.
