A BISTRO owner has spoke of her anger after roadwork confusion caused her business to lose income.
A contractor on behalf of United Utilities performed work on Steel Green road.
However, Herdwicks bistro owner Vicky Warne stated the business had no forewarning about the roadworks.
She said: "I was angry because we were given no time to prepare and lost business as a consequence."
In response, a spokesperson for United Utilities said: “We closed the road to lay a water connection to a new business at Marina Village.
"Our contractors put the advanced warning road signs out two weeks before the work was due to start.
"We’re investigating how the signage was illegally removed and found its way into the garden at Herdwicks.
"We were able to put ramps out in order to maintain access to Herdwicks restaurant for the duration of the work."
