A NEW fun-filled store has opened in Millom to offer autistic services to the area.

Fun-Fings, on Wellington Street, opened on Saturday to provide summer events and meetings for people of mixed ability.

The activity centre and toy shop has opened to increase tourism to Millom through providing a safe space for members of the public without judgement.

Richard Salisbury from Fun-Fings, said: "We have a newly decorated children's play room and will have a function suite for parties and daily craft workshop for 'messy play'.

"We'll also provide a crystal healing therapist session.

"We own Starts from Scratch (also located on Wellington Street), and we wanted to expand the children's crafts into workshops and parties.

"We didn't have the space in our first shop.

"So we decided to take on a second shop and incorporate other businesses."

The staff were also motivated to open the second store to provide an outlet for children's activities in order to get children outdoors and more active.

Mr Salisbury added: "The shop will provide more local services to families struggling to get to Barrow and other areas.

"We're working to build tourism for the area and provide activities for visitors with children."

Going forward, the store will aim to help both children and adults of mixed ability.

Mr Salisbury said: "By the summer we plan to open a toddler ballpit room upstairs.

"We will also be introducing a sensory room for children and adults with autism."

The store's function suite will be open for bookings by July.
