DORIAN Players stage a concert at Tottlebank Baptist Church, near Ulverston, on Sunday afternoon (June 2) as part of the church's 350th anniversary celebrations. The popular ensemble will be playing music dating from the earliest times right up to the beginning of the 17th century on replicas of instruments of the day and will be joined by soprano Cathy Styles. Dressed in period costume, the Dorian's instruments include a mediaeval harp, crumhorns, gemshorns, viols, recorders, a hurdy-gurdy and a mediaeval fiddle. The music is light-hearted, with many lively dances, and among the songs are several taken from Shakespeare plays. The concert starts at 2.30pm. Admission is free, but donations will be welcome.
