PUPILS, teachers and parents put on their dancing shoes for a marathon 12-hour performance at Dowdales School, Dalton, in 2002.
The Mail, on Monday, May 6, noted: "Children of all ages took part in the marathon, learning different styles of dance.
"The secondary school has successfully won performance arts status and is now keen to kit out the dance team with a special tracksuit and t-shirt.
"The school is keen to raise money to fund the kit and the dance marathon was a way to boost funds and show off pupils' talent."
Around 25 teachers took part in the event which featured everything from disco, salsa, jazz and tap to line dancing and routines based on music from the movie Grease.
Head of drama Laura Smith said: "It was absolutely brilliant and we managed to keep dancing till 9pm."
