ULVERSTON Art Society needs a helping hand to put together a 'wonder wall'.

The forward thinking group is creating ambitious art installation as part of its next exhibition and asking for small paintings or artwork measuring 15 cm by 21 cm, which will come together to form the Wonder Wall, a spectacular art installation on the wall at the society’s Coronation Hall exhibition, running from August 1-3.

UAS member and ceramic artist, Kathryn Stevens, said that a number of UK galleries have shown work in that way on their walls which has inspired the art society to try this new idea.

"Small paintings are accessible original art works that encourage people who don’t usually buy original art to do so at a moderate price. By asking the members of the public to also contribute and submit their own pieces of art, will help to further encourage people to get involved in Ulverston’s vibrant art scene and sense of community spirit as well as encourage new members to join the Ulverston Art Society."

The artwork can be of any medium, either landscape or portrait, as long as it is wall mountable, unframed and measure 15 by 21 cm. Up to five pieces of artwork can be submitted onto the Wonder Wall. Anyone interested in submitting a small painting or artwork can buy the appropriate sized board at a cost of 50p for two boards from Brenda Craven on 01229-582253.

The art installation will include members work using a variety of medium such as original print, ceramic art, oil paint, acrylic, mixed media, pencil, ink and watercolours.

"I am looking forward to being involved in this exciting opportunity and seeing everyone’s work sitting side by side showing the diversity of art and outstanding artistic talent in the area," added Kathryn. "It would be amazing to include the work of art students and members of the public within the art installation inspiring the next generation of artists. So if you are interested please do get involved”.

Those interested in contributing to the Wonder Wall can take their work to the Coronation Hall on Wednesday, July 31, between 1pm and 2pm. The creator's name, address, phone number, title of the work, price and medium used, should be on the back on the artwork.
