A COUPLE celebrate their diamond wedding with an open house for family and friends on Saturday.

James and Patricia Dixon were married at Witherslack Church on May 18, 1959. They honeymooned in Jersey and made their home at Hill Top, High Newton. They have two daughters - Tracey and Kay - and a grand-daughter.

Mr Dixon was a master joiner, originally working for H.B. Wilson in Cartmel, before taking over the business until he retired. His wife worked for a number of businesses in Grange, originally for Spencers Confectioners, then for Boots and lastly at the town’s library. They have both been heavily involved with Cartmel Cricket Club. Mr Dixon umpired for more than 50 years and Mrs Dixon helped out.
