A TOWN centre bar said alarms could have been triggered by people setting off smoke bombs in the toilets.

Revellers heard smoke alarms go off on Saturday at Tailors Bar and Lounge in Dalton Road.

A post on the Tailors Facebook page apologised to bar-goers who may have been affected and reminded people that smoking in a public place was illegal.

It said: "We would like to apologise to any of our customers who were impacted last night.

"We believe there may have been an incident with individuals smoking or setting off smoke bombs in the toilet which triggered the alarms.

"We are looking in to this, but would like to reiterate that smoking inside enclosed public places is against the law! Once again our apologies to those affected."
