GUITARIST Remi Harris has performed at the BBC Proms, Buckingham Palace, on the Chris Evans breakfast show with Jamie Cullum, Montreal Jazz Festival, on BBC 4 Television and live on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3.

Elsewhere, at the British Jazz Awards in 2017, he landed second place in the Guitarist of the Year category, beaten to top spot by Martin Taylor, who himself describes Remi as “brilliant.”

World renowned Remi appears at Ulverston’s Coronation Hall tonight as part of his massive UK tour.

With a variety of electric and acoustic guitars and a ukulele, Remi will perform with a double bass player up and down the country and in July at the Blauzac Festival, in France.

Remi’s music has reached new audiences and he continues to gain recognition for his virtuoso talent, with the recent honour of his first signature model from Fylde guitars. Roger Bucknall, a well respected Lake District guitar luthier, has handmade a Remi Harris model guitar, inspiring budding guitarists to recreate the six string ace’s unique sound.

Jamie Cullum has said that Remi is an incredible guitarist: “I’m absolutely blown away by his talent.”

Hereford born Remi is excited to be back on the road again: “It’s great to be playing in our favourite venues and visiting new places; we’re so grateful for the audiences who come out and see us year on year.”

His first album is entitled Ninick in memory of his mother. His mum - of French origin - chose the name Remi, apparently inspired by the music scale ‘do re mi.’

Predominantly self taught with the help of his dad’s guitar magazines and records, Remi started playing when he was seven, initially inspired by rock and blues guitarists of the 1960s and 70s such as Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green and Jimmy Page.

In his late teens he developed an interest in jazz, in particular Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and Stan Getz. These days, he has an increasing following on YouTube and a growing reputation for blending all of his influences into his own individual style of playing. Remi’s repertoire ranges from Reinhardt to Hendrix and all things in between, including new compositions from his much anticipated third album.
