1. Barrow Lifeboat Station is hosting an Open Day on Sunday May 26 from 11am until 4pm.

Entry to the event is free to the public while Barrow’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) team will be on hand to show visitors around the station and on-board the lifeboats.

2. For those who enjoy a good giggle, Cloud 9 on Barrow’s Dalkeith Street, will be the place to be on Friday evening.

Stand up comedian Ian Stone, who featured on Mock the Week and Nevermind the Buzzcocks, will take to the stage for a top-of-the-bill show, which is set to get the place roaring with laughter.

The event, which promises to have punters rolling in the aisles, has been organised by Cumbria Animal and Hen Rescue.

3. BBC presenter and explorer Paul Rose is set to host the official opening of Millom’s Kirksanton Village Hall tomorrow at 11am.

Mr Rose, who is known for his BBC documentary The Lakes with Paul Rose, will host a special talk with guests after the grand opening and will be free to speak to attendees one on one.

4. Ulverston Leisure Centre, on Priory Road, is hosting a Bank Holiday fun day on Monday May 27.

The event will introduce children of all ages to sports including badminton, mini tennis and ping pong.

The centre’s four-hour event will start at 11am and cost £1 per child.

5. The Prince of Wales, in Foxfield, is hosting a Beer Festival this weekend.

Although the event started yesterday, it will run until Sunday until 10.30pm.

The four-day event will host an incredible beverage-based ‘line-up’, which includes Tarn How Brewery, Deya, American Solera, and many more.

6. Taking place at Brathay Hall, in Ambleside, Brathay 5K will see runners take on their first organised event to raise money for their respective charities.

For more experienced runners, the event, which takes place on Sunday, promises to be a great day out.

7.The only show to be endorsed by the Johnny Cash family is back on form with a brand new production.

The Coronation Hall, in Ulverston, will host Johnny Cash Roadshow: San Quentin Anniversary Tour, which a relative of the man himself described as “absolutely authentic”.

The May 31 show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £22.

8. The Beggar’s Theatre, on Market Square, in Millom is hosting a stand-up gig by Manchester comedian Justin Moorhouse for a performance of Northern Joker tonight.

Funnyman Mr Moorhouse is most famous for his role as the hapless Young Kenny in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights.

Tickets will cost between £5 to £14 depending where seated.

9. St Pius X Catholic Primary School is hosting a Bank Holiday car boot sale next Monday.

The car boot sale will raise money towards improving learning opportunities and experiences for their pupils.

10. Carlisle Vegan Fair is taking place at the Farplace Animal Rescue charity shop, on Lancaster Road, on Sunday.

The dog-friendly event will be charging a £2 entry fee, which will be used as donations in order to raise money for the animals covered under the charity.
