A 42-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of possession of drugs and carrying an offensive weapon.
Cumbria Police arrested the man in Whitehaven on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled substance and possession of an offensive weapon.
A police spokesman said: "We recognise drug use and supply in Whitehaven as a local priority and continue to target criminals who are suspected to be using drugs and supplying them.
"The possession of weapons is a serious issue nationally. The extra officers available to us to stop and search those suspected to be carrying weapons, helps us take them from the streets and make our area even safer."
