A WOMAN is due to be sentenced at a crown court after she admitted smashing a wine glass into her boyfriend’s face.

Natalie Prophet, 37, of Mardale Grove, Barrow, appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court where she admitted a charge of causing actual bodily harm to her partner Archie Barker.

She was accused of assaulting the man, the step-father to her four children, at home on April 27.

The court was told Prophet hit the man before picking up the wine glass and smashing it on his face.

Paramedics were said to have been called and arrived on the scene to find Mr Barker covered in blood with a “gaping” cut on his cheek..

No urgent care was needed and he was not taken to hospital.

Solicitor Maureen Fawcett said: “She said she regretted her actions.”

Prophet, a healthcare assistant at a care home, said: “I couldn’t believe I would do something like that to someone I love.”

District Judge Gerald Chalk sent Prophet’s case to Preston Crown Court for sentencing.

Prophet will hear her fate at the court on June 7 and has been bailed in the meantime.
