The racing fraternity also had mixed fortunes last weekend.

Manxman Mikey Evans and local rider Danny Shaw were in action at the televised British Superbike round at Oulton Park on Monday.

The weather left tyre choice difficult, with constant showers and dry spells, with Evans on the Wilcocks Liquid Moly 1,000cc BMW being one of many caught out contesting the Pirelli Supersport race.

Although finishing mid-field, the team were more than happy with the bike’s performance, having identified a few small problems and are now looking forward to the forthcoming TT in a couple of weeks.

Barrow’s Shaw racing the big Freelance Mechanics Ducati in the Trioptions cup series put in a superb performance and despite a heart stopping 100 mph wobble at the top of the notorious Clay Hill he finished 13th and 11th respectively in both his races against more heavily sponsored teams on bigger budgets and quicker machinery.
