UNIVERSITY Hospitals of Morecambe NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) is delighted that more people than ever are set to do the Keswick to Barrow Walk in aid of the Bay Hospitals Charity.

More than 180 walkers will help to raise funds to enhance care for patients in Barrow and across the trust.

All money raised will be spent in local hospitals on improving facilities for patients and buying equipment over and above what the NHS can usually provide.

Sisters Rachelle Read, 37 and Holly Fletcher, 29, are just two of the walkers who are happy to be doing the K2B in aid of the trust charity.

Rachelle said: “I took part in the Keswick to Barrow walk last year to raise funds for UHMBT.

“They looked after my grandma so well until sadly she passed away three years ago.

“I was so grateful for the wonderful care she received and I made it my goal to raise funds as a thank you.

“The K2B appealed to me as it is a really well organised endurance event. It was tough last year but also exhilarating. I loved almost every minute (apart from the blisters).

“This year I will be walking again but this time with my sister. We are hoping to raise as much money as possible. If you can sponsor us just a little it would be much appreciated.”

The K2B walk brings in valuable funds for the charity each year and makes a huge difference to patients in Barrow and surrounding areas.
